Traditional Automation

The Domain Controller running the Ubiquity™ software application provides the total solution for "traditional” automation - also known as “push button” automation. Traditional automation enables you to monitor and control the devices and components in your connected home from multiple user interfaces. Traditional automation is especially useful for controlling a home theater where one simple button can turn on and setup multiple audio/video components and other devices in the room so that you can easily enjoy your theater experience. For example, pushing the DVD button on the Destiny Network’s remote control could:

  1. Turn on the DVD player,

  2. Turn on the A/V receiver,

  3. Set the input of the A/V receiver to the DVD player

  4. Set the speaker output of the A/V receiver to surround sound,

  5. Turn on the video processor,

  6. Set the video mode of the video processor to anamorphic,

  7. Turn on the projector,

  8. Lower the drop-down screen,

  9. Dim the lights to a nice TV viewing level, and

  10. Close the curtains to eliminate glare on the screen.

It can do all this with just one button.

The Domain Controller running the Ubiquity™ configurable software application provides the capability to monitor and control most home electronics including: home theaters, whole house music, lights, windows, fans, curtains, fireplaces, keypads, gates, fountains, heating and air conditioning, and other electronic components.

Of equal importance, it gives you a simple Graphical User Interface of your home with which to monitor and control everything in it. The rooms of your home are displayed on networked PCs in the Floor Plan View and a quick glance at any browser-based display will give you immediate knowledge of which rooms have their lights turned on and which do not. Each room of your house will be in one of six Room Scenes. You may be familiar with high end lighting systems that offer lighting scenes in which the push of a single button determines the brightness level of multiple circuits of lights. Destiny has extended this concept to include the ability to control all of the devices in a room with the Room Scene. For example, the Room Scene can set the lighting level of multiple circuits of lights, close the curtains, turn on the fireplace, play your favorite music, etc.

The Graphical User Interface displays a great deal of information in a relatively small area, but often it’s not practical to have a computer screen next to you all the time. Therefore, Domain Controllers respond to lots of other types of devices such as keypads, light switches, and remote controls. You do not need a computer to turn on the lights; nor to turn on the TV, for that matter.
