Room Scenes

Room Scenes are an important part of the ease of use of the overall system. You can think of them as an extension of lighting scenes. Lighting scenes provide a simple way to set multiple lights - each to a desired dimming level.  Room scenes take that one step further - enabling everything in the room to be set to a particular value. That is, a Room Scene represents the total set of on/off settings of all devices and components in the room. Therefore, instead of having to turn on and adjust the brightness of each light in the room one-at-a-time, and instead of having to open the curtains or turn on the fireplace manually, all of these things can occur automatically when you choose a Room Scene. Therefore, the Room Scene can greatly reduce the complexity of controlling the technology in a home.

There are 6 Room Scenes per room, and each device and component in the room will be set to a specific level (e.g., the brightness of the lights, curtains open or closed, etc) that you configure in the Device Settings Menu.

There are 3 Room Scenes that are used most of the time. They are:

  1. Normal Scene is the scene that is normally used throughout the house when people are not in bed.

  2. Path Scene is used at night to light a path through a room. It provides just enough light to avoid bumping into things while not too much to blind you when the lights turn on to the brightness of this scene setting.

  3. Off Scene turns off all lights in the room and can be used to close curtains, turn off the music, turn off the TV, or control other devices in the room.

There are 3 other Room Scenes that are used for special purposes. They are:

  1. TV Scene is the scene used for watching TV. The lights are typically fairly dim in this scene. In addition, this scene will often be used to close the curtains to reduce the glare on the TV.

  2. Reading Scene is the scene used for reading, which typically adds more light in the areas of the room where you may be reading or working.

  3. Romantic Scene is often associated with soft lighting and may be used for formal dining or for relaxing in the living room with the fireplace burning and the music playing.
