Handsfree Automation

The Domain Controller running the Ubiquity™ configurable software application extends the functionality of Traditional Automation by adding handsfree automation. Handsfree automation is true automation that does not require the push of a button or the speaking of words. If you walk into a room, the room responds to your presence. The lights may turn on to provide light, the music may begin to play, the heating or air conditioning may turn on to make the area more comfortable, the curtains may open to let the sunlight in through the windows, the fireplace may turn on to make it more romantic, and many other components of home electronics may respond to your presence - all of this without touching a button or speaking a word.

Handsfree automation is enabled by the Home Positioning™ System which is a network of sensors that quickly and accurately detects occupancy throughout your home, and uses that information to provide energy savings, enhanced security, easy-to-use entertainment, and the convenience of a simpler life.

Handsfree automation extends the concepts of the Room Scene to make the Room Scenes change for you automatically. As you walk from one room to the next room, Scene Continuation will carry the Room Scene to the next room with you. For example, if you are in the family room watching TV with the lights down low and you walk to the kitchen, the lights in the kitchen might come on at half brightness – enough to see, but not so much that the lights blind you. Further more, you may have a room, such as your office, where you will always want a normal amount of light provided by the Normal Scene even though you may have walked into it with a different Room Scene such as Path Scene. In this case, you can use Scene Discontinuation to automatically change to the Normal Scene.
