Select the ManufacturerThen, use the dropdown box to the right of "Manufacturer" to select the manufacturer. In the example at the right, the Device Description File for a new "Toshiba" DVD player is being created.
If the manufacturer of the AV component is not on the list ... |
... then close the dropdown box and type the name of the manufacturer into that same box.
Type the Model NumberEnter the model number by typing it into the white text box to the right of "Model". The model number should just be the model number of the component. Do not add any comments to this field. Later, you can add comments to the file name that you save this component under, but do not do it here. It will bring up a file save menu. Enter the model number as the name of the file (you may want to return to this page and copy the model number to your Windows' clipboard and then paste it in as the file name). You are finished with this page. Click the "Next" button and proceed to learning about Connector Groups.
