Software Upgrades

Please print these directions before beginning.

Download the latest version of Ubiquity to your PC
  • Go to the Support page of the Destiny Networks web site

  • Download and Install the desired version of "Ubiquity (for integrators)". Do NOT download "Find My Destiny (for homeowners)" as this CANNOT be used to upgrade a Domain Controller

  • Note, the installation will go much quicker if you turn off virus checking software

You should know that Destiny Network issues two types of software releases: feature enhancements and bug fixes. Feature enhancement releases have a new 1st or 2nd digit for the release number. For example, 2.4 provides feature enhancements over 2.3. These releases will create a new directory under C:\Program Files\Destiny Networks\Ubiquity\ so that you will have both the previous versions and the new versions.

The other type of software release is for bug fixes. In this case, only the last digit will change. For example, 2.3.1 was a bug fix version of 2.3.0. Bug fixes will overwrite the previous version of the release (if you want to save the previous bug fix release you can duplicated it with Windows Explorer - creating a folder called "copy of Ubiquity x.x").

Before Beginning

Before beginning, use the Design Module to save your project to your PC.

Upgrade the Domain 3000

Open the new version of Find My Destiny. It is very important to open the new version as this is the version that the software will try to upgrade to. If you open an old version of Find My Destiny, it will try to upgrade to the old version.

Click on the name of the Domain 3000 you would like to upgrade in the box in the upper right. Usually, there is only one to select from.

Select "File" from the dropdown menu.

Click the "Update Controller" option.

When the "Update" pop up menu appears, Click "OK".

Your screen should be showing an upgrade from 2.5.1 or from 3.0.2 to 3.1.0

A couple of messages will flash by and then you will be looking at this message for about 3 minutes.

After waiting, you will get this screen.

Note that the Power LED on the back of the Domain 3000 is now off.

Remove the power plug, wait 5 seconds, and re-insert the power plug.

The LED will turn on for a short period of time and will then start blinking.

However, the message on your PC will not change from the message at the right for up to 2 minutes.

After 2 minutes, the message above will change to the one at the right.

The software will load and the Domain 3000 will start booting up.

Refer to Find My Destiny for the rest of the boot up process.

Reload your Project

After the upgrade is complete and Find My Destiny find the Domain 3000 and reports it status as "Browser interface up and running", then, use the Design Module to save the project back down to the Domain 3000.
