The Domain 350 Shubs were designed so that they could be located almost anywhere indoors but typically they are placed inside the home in one of two ways.
In smaller houses, the Shubs are typically located in a central location near the Domain controller and other networking equipment. One advantage of this approach is that everything is in one place for wiring, commissioning, and debugging. However, it means that sensor wires must be home run from all over the house.
In larger houses the Shubs are usually distributed into different regions of the house. Typically, there will be 3 or more areas with between 2 and 4 Shubs located in a closet in each area. This reduces that amount of wire required because one CAT-5 Ethernet wire handles the communication to 16 sensors.
