Connect using the RCP Cable

To debug using the RPC and Hyperterminal:

1. Plug a 4-wire RJ-11 cable into the RPC jack on the back of the Domain 5000.

2. Plug the other end into an RJ-11 to DB-9 RS-232 adapter and into your PC

3. Select Start / Programs / Accessories / Communications / Hyper Terminal

4. Hyper Terminal will start running and will display a menu asking for the name of this connection. Type in any name (e.g., For debug) and click OK.

5. You will get a new menu asking how you would like to connect. Use the  drop down to select COM1 (or whatever COM port your RS-232 serial port on your PC is using).

6. Click OK and you are connected to the Domain 5000.

7. Push Enter and you will get a response with the name of the Domain 5000.

8. type "root" (no password is needed)

For seeing if an IR code is received, type:   cat /dev/hremoteir# where # is the number of the IR port you want to monitor.
