Introduction

In the early stages of new home and renovation projects, all of our customers are excited about what technology they can put in their new homes, but many are overwhelmed with what is possible and how to do it.  We created this applications list to help them and others become familiar with home automation.

Inside you will find a listing of many applications that are possible in your home.  Most of these applications are enabled by using a Domain Controller from Destiny Networks.  Some applications like phone systems and networking are stand-alone, not requiring a Domain Controller to implement.  

The checkboxes in the left column are there to help you keep track of the applications you find most important or interesting.  The two right hand columns, “More Info” and “3rd Party Support” provide more information and list the supported 3rd party devices.

In this manual, you will also find an introduction to home automation and a detailed description of the different types of low-voltage wires that may be pulled in your house, including audio, video, and networking wires.

This applications list serves one other very important purpose.  It describes what is possible using Destiny Networks’ Ubiquity configurable software application.  If what you want to do is on this list, then it is straight forward to implement.  However, if you dream of things that are not on this list then implementing your ideas may be more difficult.  Typically your integrator would have to write a custom program to automate your ideas, which is generally a much more expensive and time consuming process.  Regardless, we would like to know your ideas since one of the key advantages to an application is that it can be upgraded.  It is possible that your new ideas may be included in the next release.
