Setting the Date and Time of the Domain Controller

The "Date and Time" menu allows you to set the date and time of the Domain Controller or set up the auto discovery of the exact date and time from Network Time Protocol (NTP) servers on the web. Internally, the Domain Controller has a battery powered real time clock that will continue to run for 5 years without power. This clock maintains the correct time and is referenced for all timing related activities of the Domain Controller. However, it is a good idea to update the internal clock regularly via a Network Time Protocol server. Your Browser GUI must be pointed at a working Domain Controller, not the simulator, to see this menu. Updating the time will cause a system reboot. In addition, after obtaining the accurate time from the Network Time Protocol (NTP) server, the real time clock will not be updated until the system is rebooted. Again, this usually is not a problem as the real time clock keeps very accurate time.
