Before using this layer to add lights to your home, you must add a Lighting System so that the Domain Controller can communicate with the lights. The Lighting System can be an intelligent controller or a simple modem. In either case, it provides a path to control the light switches of that lighting system.
Select the Lights layer of the Design Module.
Click in the location in the room in which you plan to install the Lights. |
The "Add a Light in the <room name>" menu will pop up.
More typically, the "Add a Light in the <room name>" menu will look like this where it is controlled by a lighting system and the address of the light has been filled in. Click OK to complete adding the light. |
After clicking OK on the menu above an icon for the device will appear where you initially clicked to add it. If the device has been configured to be "Controlled by (and wired to)", then it will appear in its on state (as shown at the right). The Room menu now has the icon of the Light as a device that can be controlled. Each of the Room Scenes has a default value for the light. The light has been added to the Action Tree so that it can be used for Timer Events, GUI Buttons, and Keypad Events.
If the device has NOT been configured to be "Controlled by (and wired to)", it will appear with a gray background (as shown at the right). |
Note that if you want to change any of the parameters of the light, click on the icon of the device and make sure the "Edit " menu pops up. It is the one that also has a "Delete" button on it. |
